Peony Painting

Finally, I pushed myself to get this one off the easel, I had started this one a month or so back but left it sitting there and I got totally disconnected with this painting. Lately, I find myself to have an inconsistent attention span, I want to do everything and my painting gets pushed back, that’s why I tagged along with another artist 30-day challenge and even then I could hold up to that :/. I hope to continue my 5×7 minis challenge but for the meantime here’s the Peony painting- I revisited this painting and opted for a different approach, I focused on color value as opposed to the detail and painted the main flower very loosely and just had fun with it – not caring about any detail just tried to unfocus on everything and concentrate on shading (a lot of squinting). I left the previous background intact with the buds showing a little detail, kinda when you take a picture with a camera but you got to close and the main object gets blurred but the background is a little more pronounced.
