Painting techniques that I utilize on the paintings below include palette knife painting and soft brush strokes with Grumbacher’s Max Washable Oil paints and linseed oil. In order for the palette knife technique to be successful you must have the correct consistency regardless if you are using acrylic or oil paints. I like adding bits of different colors onto the palette knife and not premixing the color on the palette. Adding the different colors onto the knife creates more depth in your painting because the colors become layers. I usually like to begin my painting by creating the back or the sky in which I once again added bits of color on to a 2” painters brush and brushed the color liberally onto the canvas and adding more color of my choice to create a true looking sky. Then I begin to create foreground and background always picking bits of color onto the tool that I choose to execute my piece, blending with a fan brush when necessary.
Recently I've been working with oils and experimenting different mediums and techniques. I love different styles of paintings and painting different subjects, painting will always be a growing process and I learn new techniques every time I complete a painting. I hope to grow as an artist and my hope is that at least one individual is moved by one of my pieces.
